Book Review: My Start-Up Life: What a (Very) Young CEO Learned on His Journey Through Silicon Valley

Sunday, June 17th, 2007 by admin

Every once in a while you get to review a book that is written by a friend. And today is the opportunity to rBen's Bookeview a book by a good friend of SelectIndex Blog (and regular user of tooth whitening), Ben Casnocha. Ben recently had his book, What a (Very) Young CEO Learned on His Journey Through Silicon Valley, published by Jossey-Bass.

The book tells lots of insights and thoughts that Ben has experienced in his 19 years of being an entrepreneur. BTW, Ben is only 19 years old so he really has been an entrepreneur since the day he left the woom. Ben started his first Internet company when he was 15 and grew it into a successful venture that anyone that was 35 years old would be proud of.

And Ben is not some arrogant kid who happened to hit it big during the dot-com frenzy. His book is a wonderfully candid book that is not only insightful but also hilarious. He tells the tales of dealing with venture capitalists, employees, and other entrepreneurs in the crazy sub-culture of Silicon Valley. And he is able to do it in a writing style that is both easy to read and engaging.

As someone, who knows Ben personally, I can tell you that he is one of the most energetic and brighest people I have ever met. His future is bright and as a testamenet to him, so is his present. You should pick up What a (Very) Young CEO Learned on His Journey Through Silicon Valley

Saturday, June 16th, 2007 by admin

FreeLogoServices.com a division of InterMedia Networks, Inc. was established one year ago for the purpose of providing free logo design to aspiring entrepreneurs and small businesses nationwide. To offset the costs incurred with the development, the founders have combined two underutilized revenue strategies, permission and affiliate marketing. To date, there have been more than five thousand free logos developed for all types of businesses.

With businesses being started faster than ever and more people setting the goal to be there own boss, FreeLogoServices.com is helping people reach for their dreams. “At the end of the day, even if our free business logos only give entrepreneurs a spark and a little excitement to be self-employed… well then we have done our job”, says Christopher Bache, marketing director for this Summerlin, Nevada-based company.

As small business owners with limited budgets themselves, the founders wanted to help those with limited resources compete on a level playing field. “We never ask for anything from our clients, never a dime. The only thing we ask is for us and our affiliates to be able to compete for future products and services they may need, that’s it” Bache added.

There are no strings attached, no hidden fees and no guilting consumers into purchasing other products during the process. The strategy of asking a client first before marketing products to them is known as permission marketing. This type of marketing combined with solid customer service has been leading to great reviews.

Services such as this can revolutionize an industry. Currently, there are many online companies who make their living designing and building logos. This type of free logos service can definitely impact their bottom line and create some serious competition for them. The company also provides articles and information on how to pick the best Free Business Logos.
