Eating California Style

Friday, September 26th, 2008 by Michele

In the Bay Area for a few days on business this week, I had the opportunity to experience several different restaurants for lunch and dinner.   Of particular note was my lunch at a cafe in downtown San Mateo.  Not that my other meals were unimpressive, but I have dined at similar restaurants in my home state.

However, lunch at Cafe Soulstice was a unique and enjoyable experience.  Everything on the menu is organic and vegan and served raw.  Talk about a good for you meal!

Fantastic Food?

Thursday, September 25th, 2008 by Michele

As a parent, one of your jobs (I believe) is to expose your children to new experiences.  This exposure takes place in all areas, by reading new books, traveling to new places, learning new skills, or sampling new foods.  It helps our children to become more knowledgeable and more well-rounded.

However, there are times when it is better to skip exploration and stay with the tried and true.  This can be especially true when going to a restaurant.  To read a dad’s review of fantastic kid food, visit our sister site, Your Parenting Info.

Also, if you are suffering from a skin condition, such as athlete’s foot, you might be able to treat it with garlic.

An Occasional Splurge

Thursday, September 18th, 2008 by Michele

As a parent and a former educator, I completely understand the importance of rules.  Kids thrive on structure and routine.  However, kids also benefit from an occasional detour from these rules. . .as long as they understand that it is an exception.  Having a little fun or doing something in a different way can open lines of communication or create a special moment for you and your child.
