When the Service Isn’t Great

Friday, July 31st, 2009 by Michele

go-shopping-21If you shop or dine with any sort of frequency, you are bound to have a bad experience.  Whether it be a clerk that was impolite or a waiter that was too busy texting to serve your properly, you might want to express your dissatisfaction to the manager.

If you want your complaint to have significant impact, the best way to express yourself is through writing a complaint letter.  For tips on how best to write and deliver this letter visit our shopping website, Go Shopping Info.

Hopefully you won’t have a bad shopping experience, but if you do, you will know how to handle it!

For the Birds

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009 by Michele

It’s a picture perfect scene:

feathers-2A mom takes her two preschool aged children to the local park for a picnic on a sunny summer afternoon.  After enjoying time on the swings and some lunch, they walk over to the pond.  Mom opens the picnic basket and removes a bag of stale bread.  She hands each child a piece, and they tear and toss pieces of bread to a group of ducks.

The poor ducks!

What?  Aren’t they excited about these snacks?  Of course, they are, but unfortunately it does much more harm than good.  To learn more about the problems of feeding ducks and geese, visit our animal website, Feathers Fins and Fur.

Cartoons for Kids

your-parenting-infoHave you planned a trip to the movies with young children lately?  It isn’t as easy as it would seem.

Never mind having to find a time that doesn’t interfere with eating dinner or lunch, sleeping (bedtime or nap), and all the rest of life’s events, there are other difficulties.  The number of G-rated movies is dwindling.  Add to that, a good portion of PG movies aren’t geared toward young children, and you begin to question whether going to the movies is an option for the kids.

Read a review of Ice Age 3 from the dad of two boys under the age of ten, and see if you agree with his sentiments.  Just visit our parenting website, Your Parenting Info, and feel free to share your thoughts.

Summer Side Salad

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009 by Michele

tasty-thoughts3Many summer dinners revolve around the barbecue.  There are a couple benefits to these dinners.  You get to cook outside while the weather is nice.  You keep the house cooler by leaving the oven off.  After cooking the entreé outside, you will want to find a side dish that is cool and easy to make.

Asian Slaw is a recipe that fulfills both of those requests.  It is quickly made and can sit in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve your meal.  Lots of crunchiness and flavor will make this a popular side.  To get the recipe, visit our cooking website, Tasty Thoughts.

Rural Location, Urban Options

good-lifeWhen you think of vacation in Vermont, what comes to mind?  Perhaps you envision snow covered mountains, quiet country roads, and covered bridges.  Well, you will find all of those things, but there are other reasons to visit the Green Mountain State.

For a stay that combines the feel of country and city, Bennington is a great location.  Although quiet roads lead you to your destination, you will be amazed by the excellent restaurants, unique shops, and gourmet restaurants.  To learn more about this city, visit our travel site, Good Life Review.

Over 21 Watermelon

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009 by Michele

parched-2Watermelon symbolizes summer- an integral part of almost any summer cookout.  Served ice cold and naturally sweet, it is the perfect ending to a meal.  What else can you eat that satisfies your craving for dessert, makes you feel cool, and requires only slicing as preparation?

As an adult, you may crave the flavor of watermelon but not want to eat it off a rind.  As a different way to enjoy the taste of watermelon, why not serve it in a glass. . .with a kick?  To give this cocktail a try, visit our sister site, Parched No More.

A Dress for Summer

Friday, July 10th, 2009 by Michele

go-shopping-2Wearing a dress in summer always seems much more enjoyable than in winter.  There is much less hassle:  no need to wear nylons, no need to worry about feeling chilled wearing a dress on a cold day, no need to wear boots and change into dress shoes if going outdoors.

So, when summer arrives, I wear dresses far more frequently and would think other women might do so.  However, wearing dresses more often means purchasing more dresses.  Where should one go to find a great summer dress?  Our sister site, Go Shopping Info, has some terrific suggestions for where to begin your search.

Take a peek, and then let summer dress shopping begin!
