An Easy, Must Have Recipe

October 31st, 2008 by Michele

Some of the best foods are the simplest to prepare.  Grilled asparagus, chocolate covered strawberries, oven roasted chicken.  All of these are recipes that one should have in his or her repertoire.  There is no need to go to a restaurant or specialty shop for these items.

Another item that belongs on the list of tasty, yet easy to make, list is caramelized onions.  All you need are three ingredients and about half an hour.  To learn how to master this recipe, visit our sister site, Tasty Thoughts.

Dining with ESPN and Nickelodeon?

October 30th, 2008 by Michele

Going to a restaurant with your children can be a great way for everyone to relax.  No meals to prepare or dishes to clean!  Plus, with fewer distractions of home, you can have some great conversations or play a game.

However, some restaurants seem to think that people need constant amusement.  Visit our sister site, Your Parenting Info, to read one mom’s opinion about unnecessary entertainment in restaurants.

Ohio Food Recommendations

October 29th, 2008 by Michele

If you haven’t heard of Warren, Ohio, I would not be surprised.  However, this former “steel belt” community has been visited by both Senator McCain and Senator Obama in attempts to win more votes.  Of course, at this time in the 4-year cycle, there aren’t many communities that the two leading candidates haven’t visited.

If you are considering visiting Warren or will be traveling through that area, there are some great dining choices in that town.  Visit our sister site, Good Life Review, to read the top four choices of locals.

The Flu

October 28th, 2008 by Michele

At this time of year, many contagious illnesses begin to spread in classrooms and homes.  Perhaps it is a sore throat.  Maybe it involves a stomach ache.  However, if it is viral (not requiring antibiotics), many people say they have “the flu”.  And that, is not necessarily true.

Flu is short for influenza, which is a certain type of viral illness.  To learn more about influenza (its symptoms and prevention), visit our sister site, Health Eagle.

A.M. Dining in Hawaii

October 27th, 2008 by Michele

While on vacation, a big breakfast is an enjoyable way to start a day without stress and rushing.  During a nearly two-week stay in Hawaii, my husband and I experienced the benefit of these luxurious and leisurely meals.

Staying at a few different hotels, we were fortunate to sample a variety of breakfasts.  Whether it was the elaborate buffet at the upscale high-rise hotel or the organic, locally grown entree at the seaside resort cottages, the dishes were amazingly prepared.

To learn about these great hotels and restaurants, visit our sister site, Tasty Thoughts.

An Autumnal Appetizer

October 24th, 2008 by Michele

Fall is in full swing in New England.  There is frost on the lawn every morning (along with lots of leaves), daily temperatures are stuggling to get halfway to 100, and yards are adorned with pumpkins and cornstalks.  Of course, along with these items come fall foods, such as apples.

After a recent apple picking adventures, our house was overflowing with that fruit, so we needed to find some creative ways to serve these apples.  For a seasonally appropriate appetizer recipe, visit our sister site, Tasty Thoughts, to learn how to use some of the apples at your house.
